Alaska Bound

I skipped a Monday, but you'll have to forgive me. I've been very busy with the next adventure! Last week I found myself in Philadelphia rehearsing daily for my next cruise ship contract. This time rather than the rock band, I'm back at it alone! Singing and playing guitar. I was treated like a princess and had the studio all to myself and was even given an extra bag of performance clothing (I had to check three bags. Embarrassing but worth it! Haha). While at rehearsals I met a horde of men in town for a Gaelic Football tournament and had my first round of song requests, playing an inpromtu bit of guitar for them. If you never heard of Gaelic Football before, you're not alone. Definitely look into it if you're into sports.

After Philadelphia, I was whisked away to Vancouver, B.C. where I joined my new cruise ship home! It's an odd feeling, because this solo guitar position was something this company used to offer many years ago, and then they stopped having this position on their ships for a long time. It's finally back and now it's full circle for me. I'm back on the first Holland America ship that I ever sailed on, and although I've done many jobs onboard, I'm back to the first job I did with this company as well! She's a little older now, but I still love this little ship. The first thing I noticed was the laugter and smiles in the crew hallways. In guest areas, the crew is always all smiles, but when they're smiling and laughing in the crew areas, you know it's a wonderful work environment. I can tell that I've joined a big happy family here and I'm excited to meet new people and have new experiences.

I'm writing this from a lovely lounge onboard docked alongside Ketchikan, Alaska. So far we've been to Vancouver, Junau, Skagway, and Glacier Bay. The weather has been fantastic and as soon as I finish posting this, I'll head out for some fresh air. I feel very fortunate to be back out to sea. It really is where my heart is. Stay tuned for more updates moving forward!
